Modern coastal home with deep overhangs facing the Atlantic

Casa Isabela

A 4,200-square-foot coastal residence designed to ride out hurricane season without breaking a sweat.

A coastal residence on the north shore — concrete frame, deep overhangs, full-impact windows, and a ventilated roof system that handles the trade winds without needing AC most of the year. The owners wanted a home that would last, not one that would impress. They got both.

The site is 1.2 acres of native vegetation, retained where possible. Drainage and grading were done first, before any framing — the kind of unglamorous early decisions that make a house actually work twenty years later.
